As a communications intern for The Aspen Institute, I helped to write social copy for Twitter and Facebook to promote blog posts, produced podcast promos as well as designed graphics for various programs distributed on social media, created social media toolkits and wrote weekly internal newsletters. Some of the special projects that I have worked on so far were the Aspen Words Literary Prize and the Aspen Ideas Festival.

This teaser promoted a podcast interview with Erik Stegman, former Executive Director of the Center of Native American Youth (CNAY). Click here to check out the full social copy. This was a pinned tweet from November 2019 – January 2020.

The 2020 Aspen Ideas Festival
The Aspen Ideas Festival went completely virtual this year due to the pandemic and for the first time ever, was completely free and available to anyone. From June 28 through July 2, the Festival hosted speakers featuring Dr. Anthony Fauci, Stacey Abrams, Bill Gates and more as well as had special performances from various artists such as Jon Batiste and others.
I helped to create social graphics, banners for the Institute's Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages, and wrote social copy for several conversations. Check out some of the work I did for AIF below.

The 2020 Aspen Words Literary Prize Finalists
I had the pleasure of creating* graphics announcing the shortlist for the 2020 Aspen Words Literary Prize, a "$35,000 annual award for an influential work of fiction that illuminates a vital contemporary issue and demonstrates the transformative power of literature on thought and culture. "
The graphic below was tweeted out by various accounts including Aspen Words, The Aspen Institute, CEO Dan Porterfield, PubPerspectives and The Morgan. In addition, the announcement was also covered by NPRBuzzfeedNews, and more media outlets.
Different versions of this graphic were featured on Aspen Words' social media platforms from February 2020 – April 2020, versions which included a Twitter header, Facebook Cover Photo as well as the website homepage.
*Note: To create consistency and streamline the Literary Prize digital content announcements, this design is based off of a graphic and GIF announcing the longlist prize back in November 2019, which was originally created by a previous social media manager for the Aspen Institute.
The Struggle for Power: U.S.-China Relations in the 21st Century
I designed quote graphics for Twitter to promote an event hosted by the Aspen Strategy Group in January 2020 that focused on topics from ASG's latest policy book, "The Struggle for Power: U.S.-China Relations in the 21st Century." I drew inspiration from the colors and fonts of the book cover to capture the tone of the event and create consistency in its promotions. Check out some samples below.
